Newport ICT Centre
Newport ICT Centre, hosted by Newport & Gwent Enterprise, was established in 1998 as part of an initiative to promote the use of ICT and eCommerce amongst small and medium sized companies in South East Wales.
We have a team of twelve advisers who are available to offer free, independent, impartial support and advice on Information & Communication Technology (ICT) and eCommerce related issues through the Opportunity Wales, WDA and UK Online for Business programs.
Whether you are considering buying a PC or an Apple-Mac, want more use out of an existing system, or a whole new ICT or eCommerce strategy, the Newport ICT Centre can advise you and suggest reputable suppliers able to deliver the recommended services.
Appointments can be made with an Adviser at our ICT suite based at Enterprise Way or arrangements can be made to visit your place of work. We are also able to help you through the jargon and make sure you understand the issues in plain language. For the type of information you can expect please visit www.dti.gov.uk/bestpractice.
Our ICT suite hosts a dedicated demonstration unit which shows ICT in action, using the latest systems, including servers, satellite broadband and ADSL, as well as a full suite of software applications such as diary systems and accounts packages like Sage. Here we are able to demonstrate the latest technology in a friendly non-pressurised environment, where you can try before you buy. Please visit www.wda.co.uk/broadband for further information on the try before you buy scheme.
All advisors have or are working toward the Technology Means Business National Standard which demonstrates their understanding of Business issues in relation to the correct adoption of ICT or eCommerce into SMEs, which is appropriate and affordable to gain the most business advantages from utilising ICT within that business. For further details visit www.technologymeansbusiness.co.uk. The Newport ICT Centre is also registered to become a Technology Means Business Centre during this year.
