Flexible Working boosts your business
So what is flexible working?
Flexible working is about throwing away the traditional nine-to-five mentality, giving businesses the ability to provide extended hours cover and individuals the freedom to adopt their working hours to match domestic commitments. It’s about balancing what the organisation needs and what individuals need and deciding together what is best for all. There is no single solution. It can be a combination of approaches, which work together to offer greater flexibility and a resulting increase in your company’s productivity.
Working longer hours does not increase productivity; in fact we in the UK work longer hours than the rest of Europe but our productivity levels are actually lower. So it’s not about people working for longer but increasing productivity by changing the way they work. Flexible working can help.
To many people, flexible working is ‘flexitime’ but there are many different forms of flexible working, which can be combined to suit an organisation, its customers and employees.
Examples include:
- Compressed time
- Job sharing
- Home-based working
- Accrual of hours
- Flexitime
- Flexible retirement.
