Install an on-line shop - Part 2

This weeks tutorial will walk you through the steps necessary to customise the installation of the popular Open Source shopping cart based on OsCommerce called CRELoaded that we installed last week.  Hopefully you've had time to have a play with your new on-line shop by placing some orders - if you haven't it's well worth doing that before we continue.

The purpose of this weeks tutorial is to show you how to customise the shop by tidying up the front page.  We'll then go on to add some categories and products.

Once you’ve finished this tutorial you’ll have a working on-line shop installed on your computer that looks more like those that you see and use on-line.  However, remember that whilst it’s entirely possible to use CRELoaded to run an on-line shop, running it on a local computer as we’re going to do here isn’t recommended even if you’re on a broadband connection.

To run a real shop using CRELoaded you’ll need a secure server running PHP and MySQL, a domain name as well as the installation of the appropriate payment module for your bank as well as PayPal and NoChex.  What we’ll cover in this tutorial will illustrate the potential that CRELoaded offers.  If you want to take it further we suggest that you talk to your friendly eCommerce Advisor.
