eCatalogues
Introduction

The World Wide Web (WWW) was initially a powerful publishing tool for static information, usually in the form of Web pages. Many Welsh SMEs have been successful using a web site as a marketing tool. Success breeds success and this, coupled with technological developments and lowering prices, has resulted in eCommerce solutions becoming available to SMEs, making the Web more dynamic. Such solutions are typically known as eCatalogues - electronic catalogues.

Increasing numbers of eCatalogue applications now exist and although some are expensive and aimed at the larger company, a substantial number are suitably priced for an SME to purchase. If your business model is suited to traditional paper catalogue sales and you think that a fair proportion of your customers, or potential customers, use the Internet to find your type of products, it would be worth considering the implementation of an eCatalogue.

This article provides an overview of eCatalogues and outlines some of the issues that need to be considered.
