Intranets and Extranets

Intranets and Extranets allow for specific access to certain Web sites by distinct user groups. An Intranet site is one that can only be access by company employees, and often operates on the internal computer network. An Extranet site is one that can only be accessed by a user group in the ‘outside world’ - such as customers.

You may also wish to read our section on the World Wide Web in order to obtain a wider view as to what the Web can do for your business.

Intranets and Extranets can be much easier and cheaper to implement than you think, and provide real business benefits for those with particular relationships to your business. Your Opportunity Wales adviser can provide you with all that you need to know about how your business can adopt these technologies and how increasingly advanced technologies can be used with them to provide powerful eCommerce solutions that are right for you.
