Dragon Leather Tondu, Bridgend
“We have been surprised and very pleased with the amount of business we’re doing from the new Web site”

Dragon Leather Products is a small business employing one individual, the proprietor, which was established in October 2001. Two eCommerce reviews have been carried out, one year apart, both were to assess the then current position of the business regarding the use of eCommerce and how it could be used to better effect and to move the business forward.
The business manufactures and supplies high quality leather goods, golf head covers, mostly to the public, and from the outset it was felt that the Internet could be a valuable marketing tool. “Advertising in magazines is expensive, and we thought once a Web site was built we would get enquiries from it at very low cost” commented Mark Roche, the proprietor.
The foresight regarding the Internet is particularly commendable as the proprietor had little previous experience of computers and describes himself as a ‘novice’ user.
At the time of the first review a Web site was in place, which had been constructed at low cost (£99), however it was not generating any enquiries. At the time of the second review a far more professional Web site was in place. The introduction of the new site has clearly been a positive step, and now generates a significant proportion of revenue and marketing costs per order are significantly lower than achieved through traditional activites.
