Off-site data backup using broadband ASP services
Introduction

Slide

Today’s businesses are faced with an ever increasing volume of electronic data they hold on products, services, customers and transactions. This data is a crucial business asset, yet left at risk by many through poor information security. Whatever level of electronic information you currently produce, every business needs the appropriate storage, retrieval, and back-up systems to optimise the security and use of its data.

Whilst previously seen as only an option for large, technically competent companies, on-line back-ups are now an option for many SME’s. With the advent of affordable broadband access and low cost monthly data storage charges now is the time to take a serious look at how you back-up your company data.

This article, based on internal eCIC project work, aims to help businesses gain an understanding of how off-site data back-ups work, the costs involved and how it can support them in securing business critical data.
